SELECTED WORK / SUNROOM
More Than a Sunroom
A welcoming extension of home, designed to solve everyday challenges and make time outdoors more enjoyable.

THE CHALLENGE
Room to breathe. Space to belong.
The homeowner loved their Winnipeg neighbourhood, but the small home presented two everyday frustrations: an extremely tight back entrance with almost no storage, and summer insects that made enjoying the backyard difficult.
The goal was not simply to add square footage. It was to make the home work better for the family already living there.
THE DESIGN RESPONSE
A more useful connection to the outdoors.
I developed a timber-frame screened sunroom concept that made outdoor time more comfortable during Manitoba summers. An electric fireplace was included to extend its use into the cooler shoulder seasons.
Thoughtfully designed built-in benches and storage addressed the congested back entrance, helping the transition between house and outdoors feel more natural.
Every feature served the family’s routines as well as the atmosphere of the space.
THE RESULT
A space for everyday living.
The completed sunroom creates a warm, sheltered place to gather, relax, and enjoy a connection to the outdoors. This project is shown through completed photography; original concept renderings are not currently available.
